Intro to Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is a hot topic these days. You can search for any plant on the internet and a dozen websites will give you information that is sometimes vague, sometimes contradictory, other times alarming, and at best, somewhat accurate. We want to rely on Mother Nature for her healing gifts, but at the same time, we are unsure which sources are trustworthy.

In this evening introduction, we will address some tools you can use to discern trustworthy information; share basic recipes for making your own simple medicinal remedies; and discover the traditional and folkloric uses of common kitchen spices.

You will leave with greater confidence in creating plant-based remedies and researching them as the need arises. Participants are welcome to share their own family’s traditional uses and preparations. Come prepared to take notes.
